112 - Emerging Learning Tech 101: Innovating Your Learning Ecosystem
Everyone is talking about innovation: digital transformation, AR, VR, chatbots, 360 video, and the list goes on. One of the biggest challenges facing many learning leaders today is that innovation and leveraging technology in learning are extremely important, and yet, most of these same leaders acknowledge that their practitioners are not proficient in these areas.
In this session, we'll explore the learning innovation spectrum and share what you need to know about what's here, near, and on the emerging technology horizon. We'll also discuss how to approach innovation in a way that can scale to support the needs of your agency and the things to consider as you get started. We’ll start by taking a look at a new spin on Gartner's Hype Cycle and talk about the fundamental shifts that learning organizations and practitioners need to make in order to be successful in a new digitized learning world. Then we'll share and demo a selection of technologies that all practitioners need to be knowledgeable about in order to contribute in a learning organization that embraces emerging technology, including learning experience platforms, interactive 360 video, chatbots, video coaching, augmented reality, and virtual reality. For each, you’ll learn what they are, the ideal learner profile, and when they're best used to solve real world problems. We'll also share development, schedule, and cost considerations, and a few tools for you to use when you begin your first projects with them.
In this session, you will learn:
- A practical, scalable approach for innovation
- How to approach the sensible evolution of your learning ecosystem
- How to align new emerging learning technologies to the Five Moments of Need
