706 - Bringing the Virtual Classroom to Life: A Case Study and How-To Story
Have you been tasked with delivering training without having the funds for an off-site training meeting? Are you interested in using a virtual classroom, but don't know how to plan for it? This session will present a business case study on how our team effectively used a virtual classroom to help a field-based sales team improve their skills in preparing for a sales call, handling objections, and beating the competition, all from the convenience of their home.
In this session you'll learn how to apply instructional design process and adult learning principles to create a successful and highly engaging virtual classroom experience. You'll see how our team used a performance-based approach to address a field-based sales team's learner skills gaps and meet business needs without the expense and hassle of traveling to a traditional three-day, off-site meeting. You'll learn how we took an under-used existing virtual classroom platform to bring the training to them and leveraged their feedback. Specifically, you will learn how to determine learner needs and design a virtual program tailored to them. You be better able to ensure technology issues are avoided and the best ways to use a virtual classroom environments to keep learners engaged. You'll also learn how we applied performance consulting task analysis, and designed practice-based sessions aligned to tasks and skill building, with the virtual session in mind.
