SDD102 - Design Thinking for Digital Learning
Design thinking is a set of modes or mindsets that bring new value and innovation to digital learning design. At the heart of design thinking is empathy—empathy for the learner, for their work, and for their context. It is critical then to involve the learner in each step of the design process. But, how do you do that and ensure you capture what’s necessary?
In this session, we’ll dive deep into design thinking’s powerful ”empathize” mindset and how to transform learning solutions with new perspectives. Whether you’re new to design thinking or have a solid foundation, you’ll leave this session with new understanding and actionable techniques. You’ll better understand the science behind empathy and you’ll come away with a framework to build empathy in your approach. Both will aid you in creating more engaging and relevant learning experiences.
In this session you’ll learn:
- The science behind why empathy techniques are so useful
- A framework to build empathy, shift your perspective, and help you create more relevant learning experiences
- A technique to use empathy to define your organization’s learning challenges
- How to innovate and refine your solutions, using empathy throughout the design cycle
