Instructional designers and learning strategists need to curate disparate information and ideas to determine what is important so they can determine a clear path forward in creating effective learning solutions. Often part of this involves conducting lengthy and broad focus-group like ideation sessions. Spending hours in these types of sessions won't be effective unless there are clear roles, rules, and expectations. Learn how to turn your ideation sessions into an effective tool for designing valuable learning solutions!
In this interactive session, you'll learn how to design an ideation session that will ultimately lead to effective learning solution design. We'll start by exploring a brief case study about an ideation session gone wrong and the resulting implications. Then you'll deconstruct the case study gone wrong to set learning solution design on the right path. This includes a discussion about who should be involved, tools you should use, and data collection methods for your ideation session, as well as logistical details to consider. Next, you'll explore how to collect information in a logical and organized manner so you can take the resulting information and turn it into successful follow-up design sessions with SMEs and other stakeholders. Finally, you'll briefly brainstorm additional ideas with your group and share your thoughts with the other session participants.
In this session, you will learn:
