While the instructional benefits of video are extraordinary, there are two major challenges facing most instructors attempting to create videos for learning: hardware cost and access to a professional studio. No more has this reality been realized than during the COVID-19 pandemic. Faculty in colleges and teachers across the world have been asked to teach online and do it well, and they know they need video to do just that. During this session, attendees will discover practical and effective strategies for their own context to create incredible videos from the comfort of their home.
In this session we will explore a college professor and 5th grade teacher's path to successfully recording and publishing incredible videos from home. You will learn what you need to get started with appropriate recording hardware you already have access to, coordinating the lighting for your video, staging best practices, utilizing free and open source technologies, and low-cost video editing software. You will be presented with common missteps and solutions when recording videos for learning at home. We will also demonstrate how to incorporate strategies for budget-friendly, interactive, and effective instructional videos for various subject matters. At the end of the session, you will have useful guidelines on creating, editing, and uploading effective instructional videos, as well as a proven method to integrate these impactful experiences in your course.
In this session, you will learn:
Android OS, IOS, YouTube, Camtasia, Zoom, iMovie, Inshot, TikTok
